An Oasis in the Bustle of Inida
We have taken great care to choose hotels that are both safe and comfortable. That said, it is important to remember that India is a developing country. Hotels in remote parts of the country will not have the same level of amenities that Westerners might be accustomed to. It is best to stay flexible, keep an open mind, and be prepared for rustic accommodations. This may be challenging at times, but most find that safe, comfortable accommodations are a welcome relief from the busy streets of India.

In New Delhi we will stay at a comfortable four-star hotel while we all get acclimated. The remainder of our stay will be at the Narayana Hotel in Rishikesh. Nestled in the Himalayan foothills on the high banks above the river, the Narayana Hotel has comfortable accommodations, a pool, a restaurant and on-site massage therapy and spa services.

Single or Double
Most hotel rooms in India have one large bed. Most do not offer twin beds as an option. If you are traveling with a friend or partner, or you don’t mind sharing a bed with a new friend, you may want to choose a double occupancy room to reduce your costs. If you prefer to have your own bed or more privacy, you will probably want to upgrade to a single room. You can request twin beds, but there are no gurantees.

Basic or Deluxe
Hotels in rural Indian towns are rustic by Western standards. Our hotel is very clean and safe, but if you want to treat yourself a bit more comfort, you might want to consider a deluxe room. Basic rooms are suitable for those who are comfortable with more simple appointments. Peoples’ personal needs vary when they travel in developing countries, and you may be dealing with some level of physical discomfort at times. Please consider your choice of rooms carefully, so that you can make the most of your stay.
